Clinical pathology is a medical specialty that is concerned with the diagnosis of disease based on the laboratory analysis of bodily fluids such as blood and urine, as well as tissues, using the tools of chemistry, clinical microbiology, hematology and molecular pathology.
Working as a separate facility in the Clinical Laboratory, the Pathology unit in EMC is headed by a professional pathologist and provides diagnostic laboratory services for the hospital.in the following areas:
• Surgical Pathology : Different types of biopsies and examination of tissues for a definitive diagnosis of diseases.
• Cytopathology : Study and diagnosis of diseases on the cellular level for certain infectious diseases and other inflammatory conditions
• Molecular Pathology :Involves the study and diagnosis of disease through the examination of molecules within organs, tissues or bodily fluids.
