Arthritis, in general, represents a category of over 100 different types of medical conditions that manifest in the form of joint pains or joint diseases.
Arthritis can be found in people of all ages, mostly with symptoms including joint swelling, pain, stiffness and reduced range of motion. These symptoms can appear on and off with different levels of severity. In severe cases, this can lead to chronic pain and may make the person immobile.
Osteoarthritis is one of the most common types of arthritis. In this case, the cartilage at the ends of the bones wears away and cause pain when the bones rub against each other. When the symptoms are mild in the initial stages, they can be managed by medication and other lifestyle changes. However, if the symptoms are severe, a joint replacement may be necessary.
