Pancreatic diseases

Home Pancreatic diseases

The pancreas is a gland behind the stomach and in front of the spine.

It produces juices that help break down food and hormones to help control blood sugar levels. Problems with pancreas can lead to many health problems such as

• Pancreatitis – inflammation of the pancreas
• Pancreatic cancer
• Cystic fibrosis – a genetic disorder where the tubes in the pancreas are blocked with mucus.

Pancreatic diseases can also affect diabetes, when the beta cells of the pancreas stops producing insulin or it loses its ability to secrete enough insulin after meals.
