1 . How can I get an appointment?
You can make an appointment by dialing the 24 hour helpline 0484 - 2807101 to 2807109. You can also make use of the online facility in this website for the same.
2 . What are things to be kept in mind before coming for a regular check-up?
Always try to take prior appointment if possible. Please bring all previous medical records and prescriptions with you. Those opting for the EMC Master or EMC Executive Health Check are requested to be fasting for 10 hours prior to the check. Bring a stool sample if possible. Sterile containers are available from the hospital on request.
3 . Does EMC have a critical care ambulance? How can I get its services?
EMC’s Critical Care Ambulance is available for moving critically ill patients. The facilities in the ambulance include a patient monitoring facility, a ventilator to aid breathing for patients, 24 hrs non-stop power and gas supply facility. A qualified medical team comprising a doctor, nurse and paramedical staff provides the necessary care during transportation. For bookings and more information, please contact 0484 – 2807101.
4 . What are the facilities provided at the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU)?
The NICU has a capacity of 30 beds providing round the clock service on a one-to-one basis to newborn babies. The unit provides care critical care for high risk babies, in-utero transfers & inborn babies and low birth weight babies.
5 . What is Hip Resurfacing Arthroplasty?
Hip resurfacing arthroplasty is a special type of hip replacement procedure which is advantageous to arthritis patients below 55 years. Unlike ordinary hip replacement, the procedure removes less bone. The Orthopaedic Department at EMC was the first to introduce this procedure in Kerala.
6 . Are there any special financial packages for pregnant women at EMC?
Yes there is. Janani, a unique scheme introduced by the Department of Obstetrics, is especially intended for those who cannot afford the high expenses of check-ups and examinations related to pregnancy. Doctor’s consultations, periodic blood and urine tests, stipulated ultra sound scan & CTG etc. are covered under the package.
7 . What is ITLS? How can I apply for this course and when is it conducted?
Immediate Trauma Life Support (ITLS) is aimed at all those doctors who are actually responsible for the initial evaluation, resuscitation and management of trauma victims. The Trauma Life Support Society of India conducts this course every six months at the Ernakulam Medical Centre hospital. There are only 24 seats for the course since the instructions for trauma life support has to be on a one-to-one basis. Registration is strictly on a first come first serve basis.
